As He introduced Himself to the world, Jesus declared, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor, He hath sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised” (Luke 4:18). The Roman Catholic church claims that it is the church that Jesus Christ established on earth. But how accurate is that profession? Pope Francis sometime ago reiterated that idea by declaring that he has opened the 'door of mercy' to forgive men's sins for one year. Renowned Encyclopedia Britannica describes it thus: "The papacy is the oldest continuing , absolute monarchy in the world. To many the pope is the infallible interpreter of divine revelation and the vicar of Christ; to others he is the fulfillment of the biblical prophecies about the coming of the Antichrist" (Encyclopedia Britannica, page 877).
